Motor Vehicle Collision – Fatal: C17-256531

On November 13, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a Motor Vehicle Accident at the intersection of Graham Avenue and Fort Street involving a City of Winnipeg Transit Bus and a pedestrian.

An adult male in his 50's was transported to hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6271.

Male Shot: C17-256808

On November 13, 2017, at approximately 11:55 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a male shot in the 100 block of Higgens Avenue.

A male in his 30's was transported to hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable condition.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Break and Enter - Arrest: C17-186328

On August 19, 2017, a locked construction site in the 1100 block of Portage Avenue was entered and a locked storage container was broken into. Various tools valued at over $5000 were stolen.

On August 21, 2017, an adult male sold two of the stolen items to a local pawn shop.

On October 6, 2017, a locked construction site in the 100 block of St. Anne's Road was entered and various construction tools were removed from a utility trailer.

On October 7 and 10, 2017, the same adult male sold some of the construction tools to a local pawn shop.

On November 9, 2017, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the suspect.

On November 13, 2017, members of the Major Crimes Unit observed the suspect operating a vehicle in the area of Dufferin Avenue and King Street. A traffic stop was conducted and the suspect was taken into custody.

Wesley Dean Munro, 37-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with Break, Enter and Theft and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

With snow already on the ground and colder than normal temperatures, many motorists are heating up their cars before heading out on the road. The Winnipeg Police Service is reminding motorists that there are several things you can do to keep your vehicle safe.

  • never leave your vehicle unattended, running or not, for any length of time while the keys are in the ignition
  • Never leave children or pets in an unattended vehicle, especially one that is running.
  • Don't leave your spare keys and garage door opener inside your vehicle
  • Never leave valuables on display inside your vehicle
  • Install a remote starter
  • Use a steering wheel lock
  • Install an alarm system
  • Use common sense
