Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision – Public Assistance Requested: C17-107916
As previously released:

On May 21, 2017, at approximately 3:15 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a male down in the roadway in the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue. A 30-year-old male was transported to hospital in critical condition, but later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation has revealed that the victim was walking in the area and was struck by a motor vehicle. The vehicle had been travelling eastbound on Cumberland Avenue when it struck the victim. The vehicle fled the scene without assisting the injured male. The suspect vehicle is described as being grey or silver in colour and would have sustained front-end damage.

Further investigation has now determined that the victim was struck by the front passenger-side bumper of a vehicle, causing damage to the underside. This damage would not be readily visible without closer examination.

A physical check by investigators of all known grey coloured 2003-2005 Honda Accords within the greater Winnipeg area has met with negative results.

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking members of the auto industry, particularly those who deal with used parts and/or autobody repair shops, for their assistance in potentially identifying the involved vehicle.

Anyone in the automotive industry that either sold or changed a grey/silver-coloured front bumper for a 2003-2005 Honda Accord shortly after May 21, 2017, or anyone that has information that may assist investigators, is asked to contact the Central Traffic Unit at 204-986-6271 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
