Child Sexual Abuse Imagery Arrest - R16-0096441
As a result of a lengthy investigation, members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) identified a Winnipeg resident as having uploaded child sexual abuse imagery from a known chat room site.
   
The image was reported and members of the ICE unit commenced an investigation.
   
On July 11, 2017, officers attended to a residence in the north St. Boniface area of the city and executed a search warrant with the assistance of the Technological Crimes Unit and East District patrol. Numerous electronic devices were seized. A warrant was also executed on a vehicle were additional electronic devices were seized.
   
On July 19, 2017,Matthieu GAUTHIER, 32-years-old of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following:
   

  • Possession of Child Pornography
  • Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possesses for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale any Child Pornography

 
He was remanded into custody. 
   
   
Child Sexual Abuse Imagery Arrest - R16-0028599
In February 2017 the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) was notified of a Winnipeg resident uploading child sexual abuse imagery.   
   
The ICE unit commenced an investigation and learned the same person had exchanged child pornography images via email in March 2013. He uploaded additional images of child pornography in February 2016 and again in April 2016.
   
On March 7, 2017, officers attended to a residence in the Inktster/Faraday area of the city and exdcuted a search warrant for, and seized, a computer belonging to an adult male. Analysis of the computer revealed close to 2000 images and videos of children involved in various sex acts with other children and adults.
   
On July 19, 2017, Matthew Adam MACNEIL, 29-years-old of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following:
   

  • Access any Child Pornography X2
  • Possession of Child Pornography
  • Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possesses for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale any Child Pornography X2

 
He was remanded into custody.
