Homicide Investigation Update – Male Youth Suspect: C16-138707
As previously released -On July 5, 2016, emergency personnel responded to the area of Portage Avenue and Donald Street regarding an injured male.
   
The victim was transported to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
   
The victim has been identified as:
 - Cyril Quentin WEENUSK, 26 years, of Oxford House, Manitoba.
   
Investigators believe that the victim had an altercation with a group of people in the area of Portage Avenue and Donald Street. The altercation turned violent and proved fatal.
   

On July 15, 2016, Winnipeg Police Homicide investigators arrested a male regarding this incident:
 - Geordie Douglas WOOD, 22 years, of St. Theresa Point, Manitoba, has been charged with Second Degree Murder. Wood was remanded back into custody.

Investigators have obtained a Court Order authorizing the release of images of a suspect, possibly a youth, sought in connection with the homicide. Investigators are requesting the public's assistance in identifying this male. The suspect is seen wearing a black and white coloured camo-style jacket.

NOTE: As the Court Order authorizing the release of the suspect's image expires on July 31, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. Media outlets are reminded not to publish the images after that time.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact detectives at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477). 
   
   
Commercial Robbery Suspect: C16-142404 & C16-142320
On July 9, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a commercial robbery in the 100 block of Keewatin Street.
   
Employees reported that the male suspect, brandishing a knife, demanded and received an unspecified quantity of cigarettes. The suspect fled the prior to police arrival.
   
On July 10, 2016, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a commercial robbery in the 3500 block of Roblin Boulevard.
   
The same suspect may be responsible for both robberies.
   
The suspect in both instances is described as:
 - Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 20 to 25-years old, 5'8" to 5"10" in height, thin to medium build, short dark hair. The suspect had a tattoo on his right arm of a black outline of a cross approximately 13 centimetres in length.
