Sexual Assault Arrest – C16-97863
On May 15, 2016, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a 55 year old male was working in the capacity of providing local transportation while in the area of Broadway.

A 22 year old female requested transportation and entered the vehicle.

Before the female was driven to a secluded location in the 1100 block of Main Street, the driver made inappropriate sexual advances toward her, which she declined. A short time later, the victim was sexually assaulted.

She was eventually driven to her destination at which time the incident was reported to the Winnipeg Police Service. An investigation commenced by members of the Sex Crimes Unit.

On May 24, 2016, the male suspect, having learned of the ongoing Police investigation, attended to the victim's residence and offered her money to abandon her complaint against him. This offer was declined and police were again notified.

Mohinder SARKARIA, 55 years old has been charged with Sexual Assault and Attempt to Obstruct Justice due to his alleged involvement.

He was remanded into custody.
 

Robbery and Break-In Investigation Arrests – C16-105290
On October 7, 2015, several youth attended to the area of River Heights and became involved in a crime spree where several homes, garages and vehicles were broken into. Property was stolen and damage was caused.
   
On May 24, 2016, a male and female youth stole cash, property, including a vehicle belonging to a family member while in the area of St. Paul Avenue.

On May 25, 2016 at approximately 4:35 a.m., the two then attended to a convenience store located on Killarney Avenue. They proceeded to select items from the store and eventually left without paying. They fled the area on foot after assaulting staff.

Between 5:45 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., the suspects broke into a shed, a vehicle and a garage located at separate residences on Purdue Bay and Dalhousie Drive. Damage was caused and property stolen.

West District Patrol members observed the suspects and immediately took them into custody. The investigation continued by members of the West District Crime Unit.

A 17 year old male and 16 year old female have been charged with numerous offences with include:

17 year old male: Robbery, Assault with a Weapon, Theft Over $5000.00, Theft Under $5000.00 x 3, Break Enter – Theft x 7, Break, Enter w/Intent x 3, Mischief x 19 including Highway Traffic Act offences.

16 year old female: Robbery, Possession of a Weapon, Theft Over $5000.00, Theft Under $5000.00 x 3, Break Enter – Theft x 5, Break, Enter w/Intent, Mischief x 4

Both were remanded into custody.
