Arson Investigation – C16-109343
On May 30, 2016 at approximately 4:00 a.m., Winnipeg Police and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a report of a fire in the 600 block of Langside Street.

The fire was extinguished by the resident with minimal damage. The investigation determined that the fire was a result of an incendiary device thrown against the building.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).


Sudden Death Investigation – C16-108115
On May 28, 2016, at approximately 10:45 a.m. Winnipeg Police officers attended to the area of Tache Avenue and Dollard Boulevard. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services had responded to a report of a 33-year-old male down at that location.

The male was turned over to the attending police unit, which subsequently lodged the victim at the Main Street Project, under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act of Manitoba.

At approximately 2:15 p.m. Main Street Project staff determined that the male was unresponsive. The victim was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
