Residential Break-In to home of Homicide Victim Christine STOYKO – C16-82219
On April 26, 2016 at approximately 2:40 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a residence located in the 500 block of Redwood Avenue regarding a break-in.
It was confirmed that the residence belonged to Christine STOYKO, a victim of a homicide on April 23, 2016.
Further to this, family members attended to Winnipeg and were in the process of making funeral arrangements when they discovered that Christine's home had been broken into.
It should be noted that the home had already been processed by investigators regarding the homicide and subsequently secured.
It has been determined that unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the home sometime between April 25th and April 26th, 2016, after the accused Kevin Grant KLASSEN, 37-years-old was arrested for Second Degree Murder.
Stolen property includes two televisions and various jewellery items.
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident, identity of the suspect(s) or the whereabouts of the stolen property is asked to contact Detectives at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
Update - Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision - C16-81903
As previously released -On April 26, 2016, at 12:55 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision in the 900 block of Nairn Avenue. Two adult male cyclists were travelling eastbound in the curb lane when one was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle involved subsequently fled the area.
A 38-year-old male was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Members of the Central Traffic Unit continued to investigate.
On April 26, 2016 at approximately 10:10 a.m., Kyle Nicholas GENEREUX, 24-years-old of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
Driving While Ability Impaired Causing Death
Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle causing Death
Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident Involving Death
He was remanded into custody.
Break-In Arrests – River Heights Area -
Between January and April, 2016 several residences in the West End and Rivers Heights area were broken into.
The investigation has revealed that the suspect would travel the back lanes on bike looking for opportunities. Break-ins to garages, parked vehicles and various property damage occurred as a result.
On April 26, 2016 at approximately 5:00 a.m., a resident on Oxford Street observed suspicious activity and notified police immediately.
Officers quickly responded and took custody of a male suspect.
James Edwin ADAMS, 41-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with
Numerous property related offences due to his alleged involvement.
He was remanded into custody.

Due to on-going efforts directed at combating crime in these areas and throughout the city, officers arrested two males on April 20, 2016. They have been charged with multiple break-ins in the River Heights area.
