Saturday, February 27, 2016 Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision Update – C16-40522 As previously released, on February 27, 2016, at approximately 1:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of McPhillips Street and Jarvis Avenue for the report of a two vehicle collision.     The two drivers, a 71-year-old male and 22-year-old female, were both transported to hospital in critical condition.  The male later succumbed to his injuries.  His name is not being released.     Members of the Central Traffic Unit continued with the investigation.     It has been learned that at approximately 1:10 a.m. a Honda Civic had been stolen in the area of Sherbrook Street and Ross Avenue by an unknown female.  A short time later the stolen vehicle was travelling south on McPhillips when it sideswiped a car, driven by an adult male who was not injured in the collision.  The stolen vehicle continued south and struck a Buick Regal which had been eastbound on Jarvis, attempting to turn north onto McPhillips.     Alcohol and speed are being considered as factors in this collision.     No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.
