Drug Offence Arrests – C15-109621
On May 28, 2015, shortly after 3:00 p.m. members of the East District Station Community Support Unit were in the Saint Boniface Area as a result of a Special Policing Initiative (SPI).  While in the 200 block of Marion Street they observed an apparent drug transaction take place, after which the involved male was seen to enter a nearby vehicle and drive off.
 
At traffic stop was performed and the three occupants taken into custody without incident.  The arrests and subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 162 grams of powder cocaine with an estimated street value of $11,000.00
  • 6 grams of marihuana with an estimated street value of $60.00
  • $160.00 in Canadian currency

Taylor Joe Paul (19), Christopher John TOTH (31) and Byron Louis YOUNG (29), all of Winnipeg have been charged with numerous drug related offences for their alleged involvement.
 
All were detained in custody.

 
Break & Enter Arrests – C15-87460
Between March 2nd and May 29, 2015, the Winnipeg Police Service received the reports of 43 residential and commercial break & enters, primarily in the District 1 and 3 areas of the city.
 
The homes that the thieves targeted were for sale or under construction.  Stolen items, valued at over $144,000.00, included appliances, sinks, toilets, cabinets, tools, copper, furnaces, hot water tanks and electrical panels.
 
Members of the District 1 & 3 Crime Units were tasked with the investigations which led to the identification of three suspects.
 
On May 29th at approximately 4:30 a.m., with the assistance of uniform members, the three suspects were arrested without incident in the 400 block of Spence Street.
 
Five search warrants were executed at various locations throughout the city resulting in over $100,000.00 in stolen property being recovered.
 
Cornell Lee BELANGER (33), Tahnee WAPASH (27) and Tryten Quesler WAPASH (25), all of Winnipeg have been charged with multiple property related offences for their alleged involvement.
 
All were detained in custody.
 
The investigation is continuing and further arrests are expected.
