Fraud Investigation Arrest – R14-32704
Between January 2007 and February 2014, a 48 year-old male was employed as the General Manager and Artistic Director for a local theatre, a not-for-profit organization.
 
During this time frame, he was entrusted with numerous duties which included managing the finances of the theatre.
 
As General Manager, it's alleged that he exploited his position and embezzled over $85,000.00. He then covered up his actions by repeatedly presenting forged documents which indicated that the finances were in good order.
 
The thefts were detected in early 2014 and the suspect, having dual-nationality fled to Texas, USA.  
 
The investigation continued by members of the Commercial Crime Unit.
 
A Manitoba-Wide-Warrant was issued in January 2015. While re-entering Manitoba, Canada on March 28, 2015, the outstanding warrant came to light at which time he was placed under arrest.
 
Michael Howard NATHANSON, 48-years-old has been charged with the following offences:
 
Theft over $5000.00
Forgery
 
He was remanded into custody.  
 
  
Fight – C15-62478
On March 29, 2015 at approximately 2:50 a.m., officers and other emergency personnel responded to the 1500 block of Ross Avenue regarding a fight in progress involving numerous individuals.
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that a fight broke out between two groups at a house party on Ross Avenue. Due to the altercation, three people sustained non-life threatening injuries. They were transported to hospital and later released.
 
Members of the Division 11 Crime Unit continue to investigate and interviews are on-going.
