Commercial Robbery Arrest – C14-250323
Between November 19 & 28, 2014 the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of several commercial robberies.  They include:
 
November 19 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 21 – 800 block of Arlington Avenue
November 23 – 1300 block of Main Street
November 23 – 1000 block of McPhillips Street
November 23 – 1300 block of Main Street
November 24 – 700 block of Mountain Avenue
November 24 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 25 – 700 block of Mountain Avenue
November 25 – 1100 block of Main Street
November 25 – 1800 block of Main Street
November 26 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 26 – 1000 block of Notre Dame Avenue
November 28 – 300 block of McPhillips Street
 
The crimes spree resulted in the suspect obtaining cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets.  No one was injured during any of the incidents.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and with the assistance of Divisional and Street Crimes Units a suspect was identified.
 
On the evening of November 28th the suspect was located and arrested without incident in the 800 block of Pritchard Avenue.
 
John Raven WARD 30 years of Winnipeg is facing numerous robbery and breach of court order related charges for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained in custody.

 

Person Robbery Arrest – C14-254581
On November 28, 2014 shortly after 6:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the area of Bellavista Crescent and Rogan Drive for the report of person having just been robbed.
 
Information provided was that the victim had been walking in the area when she was grabbed by a male who was armed with a weapon.  The suspect threatened to assault her and stole her purse.  She was not injured.
 
Several units attended and with the assistance of Canine a suspect was located and arrested in the area without incident.  The stolen property was recovered.
 
A 15-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery, Uttering Threats and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained in custody.
