Road Safety Results
May 13-19, 2014 was Canada Road Safety Week, a national campaign sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) aimed at making Canada's roads the safest in the world.

The campaign was a police initiative designed to remind people that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.  The focus was on behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users most at risk.

Road Safety enforcement resulted in the following:

  • 18 impaired driving charges
  • 2  administrative suspensions (ASD Warn)
  • 8 other criminal code charges stemming from traffic stops
  • 5 suspended/disqualified drivers
  • 282 speeding charges
  • 69 seatbelt charges
  • 36 distracted driving (cell phone) charges
  • 387 other HTA offences.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind members of the public that we all have a part to play in improving public safety on our roadways.
