WPS BASKETBALL TEAM HOOPS IT UP AT ARTHUR A LEACH SCHOOL

Today, at 2:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Basketball Team will be taking on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a friendly basketball game at Arthur A Leach School located at 1827 Chancellor Drive.

Every year our team made up of Constables, Patrol Sergeants, Inspectors and our Chief of Police, Devon Clunis, go out and play Varsity basketball teams as part of our "Respect in Sport" initiative. This year we have already played at Sisler High School, Miles MacDonnell Collegiate, Technical Vocational School, King's School, Elmwood High School, Grant Park High School and West St. Paul School, to name a few.

Our connection and interaction with the students is not only fun and entertaining, but an opportunity for a positive relationship with the school community helping to bridge the gap between police and the students.

Members of the media are welcome to attend, however the school is closed to the public.

Any schools wishing to host future games involving members of the Winnipeg Police Service can contact Constable Marnie Minkus at mminkus@winnipeg.ca
