MARIHUANA GROW OPERATION ARREST – C13-239948
On November 22, 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Marihuana Grow Operation unit along with Uniform and Tactical Support Team members executed a CDSA (Controlled Drug & Substances Act) search warrant in the 400 block of Manitoba Avenue.
 
One male was taken into custody and arrested.
 
The search resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 302 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $338,240.00
  • 4 pounds of dry marihuana with an estimated street value of $10,000.00
  • $6,975.00 in Canadian currency
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $15,000.00

The 48 year old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Production of controlled substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) & Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime for his alleged involvement.
 
He was releases via a Promise to Appear.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL FIRE – C13-240269
As already reported in the media, on November 22, 2013 shortly after 3:00 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 1st 100 block of Hindley Avenue for the report of a fire.
 
A 67 year old male was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.  His name is not being released at this time.
 
An adult female along with a female child were transported to hospital and later released. 
 
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and members of the Arson Strike Force are continuing with the investigation.
 
 
MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION UPDATE – C13-240704
As released earlier today, on November 23, 2013 at approximately 3:15 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of St Anne's Road and Pilgrim Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle collision.
 
Responding personnel arrived to find that a single vehicle was involved.  The driver, a 23 year old male from Winnipeg was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries.  The 20 year old female passenger also from Winnipeg was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
 
Speed and alcohol are being considered as contributing factors.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident who has not yet spoken with Police is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6271or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
