Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Thursday, March 28, 2013     SEXUAL  ASSAULT INVESTIGATION     C13-057713 On Wednesday, March 27th, 2013 at approximately 5:45 p.m. Winnipeg Police officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Portage Avenue for the report of a sexual assault.   The investigation revealed, while shopping, a 23 year old female victim was approached by an unknown male who attempted to engage her in conversation. The victim attempted to walk away and at that time the suspect sexually assaulted her. The victim yelled and the male fled the area.   The suspect is described as: aboriginal in appearance, 22 to 24 years of age, 5'8" tall, 250 pounds, with a speech impediment, wearing a grey hoodie and black sweat pants.   Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245.     SEXUAL  ASSAULT  INVESTIGATION     C13-057652 On Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, at approximately 10:00 a.m. a 21 year old female was in the area of the Osborne Street Bridge when she walked past an unknown male.  It was at this time the female victim was sexually assaulted.  The male left the area.  The victim did not sustain any injuries and was able to contact police.    The suspect is described as: aboriginal in appearance, mid 20's, 5'8" in height, medium to large build, wearing black clothing.   Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6245.         For further information contact either: Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer Constable Eric Hofley, Public Information Officer Office: (204)986-3061 Fax: (204) 986-3267 Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca   Web: www.winnipeg.ca/Police
