STRONGARM ROBBERY – C13-037380
On Monday, February 25, 2013 at approximately 12:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 1000 block of McPhillips Street for the report of a person having just been robbed.
 
Attending officers met with the 50 year old male victim who advised that he had just picked up his prescriptions when he was approached by two unknown males, both armed with a weapon and their identities concealed.  The males proceeded to rob him of his medications and personal property after which they fled in a vehicle. 
 
The stolen medications include: 

  • 42 tablets x 80 mgs OXYNEO
  • Unknown amount of 5 mgs ZOPICLONE
  • Unknown amount of 40 mgs PENTOPRAZOLE
  • Unknown amount of 60 mgs ATULAT
  • Unknown amount of 25 mgs HYDROXYZINE
  • Unknown amount of 200 mgs CABAMAZEPINE
  • Unknown amount of 250 mgs VALPROCI

The victim was not injured.
 
Both suspects are described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 5'7"-5'9" in height with a medium build.
 
The vehicle is described as a black extended cab pick-up truck.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.  Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-2848 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
The Winnipeg Police Service reminds the public that taking large quantities of these medications alone or in combination with other drugs or alcohol could be dangerous to your health or fatal.
 
 
WEAPONS ARRESTS – C13-036935
On Sunday, February 24, 2013 at approximately 4:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to the 100 block of Frances Street for the report of sounds of shots.
 
Attending officers learned that 5 people had been within the residence when two male suspects had fired multiple shots at the home.  No one was injured.
 
The suspects fled and were tracked by a K9 unit to an address in the 400 block of Alexander Avenue.
 
Members of the Tactical Response Team attended and with the assistance of general patrol members took all persons within the residence into custody without incident.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
A search warrant was later obtained for the residence on Alexander Avenue.  As a result, investigators recovered two firearms believed to have been used in the incident.
 
Kyle Justin FAWCETT, 18 years and a 16 year old male youth, both of Winnipeg have been detained in custody and are facing numerous firearms related charges.
