WINNIPEG POLICE SERVICE PATROLMEN JOIN FORCES WITH NHLPA
On Saturday, November 17, 2012, the Winnipeg Police Service Patrolmen Hockey Club will face off with the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA), in the Goals for Dreams Hockey Challenge.
The game starts at 3:00 p.m. at the at the University of Manitoba's Max Bell Centre.
All proceeds raised at this event will go directly to support the Dream Factory and Children's Hospital Foundation.
The Dream Factory is a Manitoba based children's charity that provides wishes to children with life threatening illness. Upon granting the request of an eligible child, the Dream Factory will;

  • Ensure the dream is in the best interest of the child
  • Include the child's immediate family
  • Fulfill the dream outside the hospital environment
  • Provide funds to families who require financial assistance

 

 

The Children's Hospital Foundation is a Manitoba based charity whose purpose is to raise and distribute funds for the advancement of knowledge and care in the fields of child health and child health research.

Team Ladd and Team Stuart have invited the following members of the NHLPA, to participate in the event; Blake Wheeler, Dustin Byfuglien, Brian Little, Jim Slater, Olli Jokinen, Tanner Glass, Travis Zajac, Colin Wilson, Shane Hnidy, and Jonathon Toews.
The Winnipeg Police Service Patrolmen Hockey Club will be split up among both Team Ladd and Team Stuart.
At the conclusion of the game, those in attendance will have an opportunity to "win the jersey off the NHLPA player's backs".
The game will include mascots, tykes' teams, and a post-game autograph session.
Tickets for the game will be $20.00 and will go on sale October 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at all 9 Winnipeg area Boston Pizza Restaurants, the Dream Factory Office, 303-1 Wesley Avenue and the Children's Hospital Foundation, RM CE501-840 Sherbrook Avenue.
The Patrolmen are comprised of Winnipeg Police Officers, with the majority of the team having either: NHL, AHL, ECHL, CHL, WHL, OHL, and NCAA playing experience. The team has been in existence since 1998, and have raised over $280,000.00 for Manitoba based charities.
