DRUG AND FIREARM ARRESTS    R12-113424 / C12-219185
As a result of an on-going investigation, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit, on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at approximately 12:45 a.m., conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of the 400 block of Talbot Avenue.
 
The vehicle was occupied by two males at the time. A subsequent search of the vehicle and occupants resulted in the seizure of one sawed-off shot gun and five shot gun shells. The passenger of the vehicle was arrested and taken into custody.
 
Johnathan Eric James GREENTREE, 27 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Breach of Firearms Regulation
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm/Ammunition
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Firearm while Prohibited
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance X3
  • Breach of Probation
 
GREENTREE was detained in custody.
 
Further to the on-going investigation, on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 2:15 a.m., police members attended to a residence in the 500 block of Ottawa Avenue where they executed a Control Drugs and Substance Act search warrant.
 
Attending members located a male suspect inside the residence at which time he was arrested and taken into custody.
 
A 35 year old male of Winnipeg is pending charges of:
  • Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance X 2
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Recognizance
 
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
 
 
FIRE    C12-220049
On Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at approximately 10:15 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of the 400 block of Maryland Street regarding a fire.
 
An investigation revealed that fire was set to the exterior of the building by unknown persons. All occupants were safely evacuated from the building without injuries.
 
Damage is estimated at approximately $20,000 dollars.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.
