FIRE INVESTIGATION                    C12-98569
On Sunday, May 27, 2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a garage fire in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue.
 
The fire destroyed the garage and damaged adjacent structures, which resulted in a total combined loss of $24,000. No one was injured as a result of this incident.
 
The cause of fire is undetermined at this time. The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.

STABBING  – ARREST                 C12-98646
On Sunday, May 27, 2012 at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 500 block of Strathcona Street regarding the report of a stabbing.
 
Police arrived at the location and found three adult males with injuries consistent with being stabbed. Two of the three males had upper body injuries and one male sustained injury to his lower body. Winnipeg Paramedic transported the males to hospital.
 
An investigation of the incident revealed that while at this location an altercation took place with a male known to the victims. The male suspect armed himself with a weapon and assaulted the victims resulting in injuries. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
 
Officers immediately searched the area and located the suspect in the area of Ellice Avenue and Clifton Street. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
 
The accused is identified as: Brandon Aaron CANARD, 20 years of Winnipeg.
 
 
 
CANARD has been charged with the following:
 
  • Aggravated Assault X 1
  • Assault with Weapon X 2
  • Breach of Probation
 
CANARD was detained in custody.
