Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

Thursday, May 31, 2012       ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON – ARRESTS C12-101616 On May 31, 2012, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of William Avenue and Isabel Street regarding a stabbing incident involving a cab driver.   The investigation has revealed that a 53 year old male cab driver was parked in the area when a female entered his cab. A short time later, a male known to the female also entered the cab. It was at this time the male suspect produced a knife and stabbed the driver causing an injury. Both suspects fled on foot.   The driver left the area in his cab and was able to flag down members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. He is in stable condition.   Due to the efforts of officers involved, both suspects were located and arrested in the area a short time later.     An 18 year old male and 24 year old female are facing several charges including: Assault with a Weapon.   Two knives have been recovered by officers.   The investigation and processing of the accused is continuing by Division 11 Detectives.         For further information contact either: Patrol Sgt.
