COMMERCIAL ROBBERY      C12-97491
On Friday, May 25, 2012 at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a commercial robbery in the 700 block of St. Anne's Road.
 
The investigation revealed that a male suspect attended to this location armed with a firearm. The suspect entered the business and approached a 42 year old male employee and demanded money and other undisclosed items. These items were provided at which time the suspect fled the area.
 
The 42 year old male employee was not injured as a result of this incident.
 
The suspect is described as a: Caucasian male, approximately 5'8" tall, medium build with a brown/black coloured beard.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477)
 
 
 
FIRE INVESTIGATION      C12-97742
On Saturday, May 26, 2012 at approximately 1:00 a.m., emergency services personnel responded to a fire in the 800 block of St. Matthews Avenue.
 
Damage is estimated at $14,000. No one was injured as a result of this incident.
 
The cause of fire is undetermined at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Strike Force.

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARRESTS       C12-90159
Between May 2, 2012 and May 16, 2012, members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to eight commercial robberies in various locations of the City of Winnipeg.
 
Members of the Major Crime Unit immediately commenced an investigation of the robberies.
 
The investigation revealed that during these robberies the suspects wore disguises and confronted employees with a firearm and demand money and cigarettes. During one of these robberies the firearm was discharged, however, no injuries were sustained as a result.
 
The suspects committed robberies at the following locations:
 
  • 400 block of St. Anne's Road on May 2, 2012
  • 1300 block of Molson Street on May, 3, 2012
  • 1000 block of Pembina Highway on May 4, 2012
  • 5600 block of Roblin Boulevard on May 7, 2012
  • 3500 block of Pembina Highway on May 10, 2012
  • 400 block on St. Anne's Road on May 12, 2012
  • 1100 block of St. Mary's Road on May 15, 2012
  • 3000 block of Ness Avenue on May 16, 2012
 
The combined total value of goods stolen during these robberies is approximately $6,500.
 
As a result of the investigation, on May 16, 2012 at approximately 3:50 p.m. the following male suspect was located in the area of Alexander Avenue and was arrested and taken into custody: Jamie HARPER, 19 years of Winnipeg.
 
HARPER has been charged with the following offences:
 
  • Robbery with Firearm X 8
  • Disguise with Intent X 8
  • Point Firearm X 9
  • Discharge Firearm X 1
  • Use Firearm in the Commission of an Offence X 8
  • Careless Use of Firearm X 8
  • Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose X 8
  • Unauthorized Possession Firearm (License) x 8
  • Unauthorized Possession Firearm (Registration) X 8
  • Possession of Firearm while Prohibited X 8
  • Breach Probation X 8
  • Warrant to Arrest Breach of Probation X 2  
 
On May 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., the second suspect; a 17 year old male was located and arrested.  The male youth has been charged with the following offences:
 
  • Robbery with Firearm X 2
  • Disguise with Intent X 2
  • Fail to comply with Sentence X 2 
 
Both accused have been detained in custody.
